The update problem

Every WordPress site is really a stack of separately written pieces of software, and all of them are updated on their own schedules by people who have never seen your site. Most updates are harmless. A few break something, and the ones that break something rarely announce it, so the fault is found by a customer rather than by you.

The answer is not to stop updating, since an out-of-date WordPress site is the most reliably hacked thing on the internet. It is to update in a way that expects the occasional breakage: a copy taken first, the update applied, the site checked afterwards, and the fault put right the same day rather than discovered in a month. That is ordinary routine here rather than an incident.

Taking over a site somebody else built

This is one of the most common ways that new clients arrive. A freelancer has stopped replying, an agency has become too expensive, or the member of staff who understood it has left with the knowledge in their head.

We’ll take your site on regardless of who built it or what state it is in. The first job is to get the access into your name, take a full copy, and write down how the thing is actually put together, so that whatever happened last time cannot happen again. The list of things you have been working around starts getting shorter after that.

Hosting, security and speed

Most of the WordPress sites we look after are hosted with us, which makes the routine simpler: backups daily and weekly and kept off site, Imunify360 dealing with the constant background of attacks, and a WP Rocket licence included for keeping pages quick. None of that is compulsory, and we also look after sites hosted elsewhere, or help you find the hosting you need.
